SQiLs is committed to protecting your privacy and to transparency regarding the data about you that we collect and how we use it. This Privacy Policy is designed to let you know the personal data and/or personal information about you that SQiLs ("SQiLs," "we," "us," "our") collect and process when you visit our website ("Website") or use the services and applications we offer ("Services").

1. Scope of This Privacy Policy
1.1. Individual Capacity
This Privacy Policy applies to our collection and use of your personal data when you access SQiLs for your own individual educational purposes. Unlike other platforms, SQiLs is a direct-to-consumer (B2C) service.

- Community Member using our Services in your individual capacity, including registered users with paid or free subscriptions.
2. How We Collect Your Data
2.1. Automatically Collected Data
We collect certain data automatically when you use our Website. This includes technical information about your interaction with the SQL practice environment, pages visited, and features used.
2.2. Data Provided By You
We collect data you provide when you sign up for an Account, log in, or correspond with us. This includes information provided during registration or when you participate in interactive SQL exercises.
2.3. Received From Third Parties
We receive information about you from third-party authentication providers (such as Google or Facebook) when you choose to register or log in using those services. We also receive transaction status information from our payment processor, Lemon Squeezy.
3. Data We Collect and Process
3.1. Data Automatically Collected
SQiLs collects technical data, including: IP address, browser type and version, activity logs, and interaction data regarding the SQL exercises and the local SQLite database execution. We use cookies and similar technologies for this purpose.
3.2. Identifiers
We collect data that identifies you, such as your name and email address provided during registration or shared by third-party login providers.
3.3. Interactions and Results
We collect and process the SQL code you author, your progress through the training modules, and the results of your practice sessions. This history is saved to provide you with performance insights and improvements.
3.4. Payment Information (Lemon Squeezy)
For paid subscriptions, all financial data is processed by Lemon Squeezy. SQiLs does not collect or store your credit card numbers. We only receive confirmation of payment and related transactional identifiers.
4. How We Use Your Data
4.1. Purpose of Processing
We use your data to: (a) provide and maintain the SQL practice environment; (b) prevent fraud and unauthorized scraping of our datasets; (c) communicate with you regarding updates or marketing (where permitted); and (d) optimize the Website performance on Vercel/AWS.
4.2. Direct Marketing
If you have provided consent or where otherwise permitted by law, we may use your email address to send you news, advertising, or promotional information about SQiLs. You may opt-out at any time.
4.3. Processing Duration
We process your data for as long as your Account is active or as permitted by law. You have the right to request the deletion of your data as described in Section 8.
5. How We Disclose and Transfer Your Data
5.1. Platform Service Providers
We disclose your data to essential third-party providers, including Vercel (hosting), AWS (storage), and Lemon Squeezy (payment processing). These providers are contractually obligated to protect your data.
5.2. International Data Transfers
Our Services are supported by infrastructure in the United States and Israel. By using SQiLs, you acknowledge that your personal information may be transferred to, and processed in, jurisdictions outside of your country of residence, which may have different data protection rules than your country.
5.3. Legal or Compliance Purposes
We may disclose your information to third parties as required by law, court order, or as necessary to enforce our Terms of Service and protect our intellectual property (including our SQLite databases).
5.4. Business Transfers
In the event of a merger, sale, or asset transfer, your data may be among the assets transferred to the new entity, subject to the protections of this Privacy Policy.
6. How We May Use Automated Processing
6.1. AI and Machine Learning Policy
SQiLs does not currently use artificial intelligence to uniquely identify individuals or monitor facial images.
6.2. No Training on Your Data
We do not train any third-party Large Language Models (LLMs) or AI features on your personal User Code or personal data without your explicit consent.
6.3. Anti-Abuse Automation
We use automated tools to detect and prevent "scraping" or automated extraction of our proprietary datasets from the SQLite local environment.
7. Cookies and Similar Technology
7.1. Essential Cookies
We use cookies to authenticate your identity, maintain your session, and prevent unauthorized access to your Account.
7.2. Analytics Cookies
We use tools like Google Analytics to track how our Services are used so we can test new features and improve the SQL learning experience.
7.3. Your Choices
You can manage your cookie preferences through your browser settings. However, blocking essential cookies may prevent you from using the interactive SQL environment.
8. Your Rights in Your Data
8.1. GDPR (European Economic Area)
If you are located in the EEA, you have rights including: access, rectification, erasure ("right to be forgotten"), restriction of processing, and data portability. SQiLs is the "Data Controller" for your information.
8.2. California (CCPA/CPRA)
If you are a California resident, you have the right to know what personal information we collect, the right to delete it, and the right to opt-out of any "sale" of your data. SQiLs does not sell your personal information.

To exercise any of your rights, please contact us at support@sqils.io. We will respond to your request within the timeframes required by applicable law (typically 30 days).
9. Children
9.1. Age Limit
SQiLs does not knowingly collect personal data from children under the age of 16 (or 18, as per our Terms). If we learn we have collected such data, we will take immediate steps to delete it from our servers.

10.1. Updates
We may update this Privacy Policy at any time. The "Last Updated" date at the top of this page will reflect the most recent version. Your continued use of the Website after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the revised policy.
